Our holiday house is an ideal base for walkers and nature lovers (wild flowers, butterflies and birds). Views across the valley and towards the Sibillini mountains. Close by are the nature reserves of Montelago and Colfiorito, the Sibillini National Park is one hour away.
Sports/physical activities: Sibillini mountains (up to 2,500 m), for hiking, paragliding and winter sports, 75 min. Rock-climbing and paragliding, Pioraco, 10 min. Swimming pools 10 min., Lake 30 min. Adriatic sea resorts 50-75 min. Frasassi caves - the largest limestone complex in Europe (guided tours): 45 minutes drive.
There are many interesting abbeys and churches to be visited, where often you may ask for the key at a house nearby and be the sole visitor.
Val di Castro was where the monastic reformer San Romualdo died in 1027, while some historians link San Guisto to Charlemagne.
Opera lovers can enjoy the annual Macerata Opera Festival, with its open air performances. We will be happy to provide full information and reserve tickets for you. At Urbisaglia you can enjoy the performance of classical plays in the open air theatre.
Italian lessons: There is an excellent school specialised in teaching Italian to foreign students (a "Dante Alighieri" institute) in Camerino. Courses all year round, different levels, also private tuition is possible.
